Through a regeneration scheme that commenced on-site on the 4th of May 2010, Riddel Hall has undergone a transformation into a high quality state-of-the-art facility comprising:
- Postgraduate & Executive Education Centre
- Teaching & Conference Wing
- Queen’s University Management School
The extensive refurbishment of the existing Riddel Hall building has created a unique Graduate School accommodating 9 syndicate rooms, 10 postgraduate rooms, 4 lecture theatres, 2 Research Rooms, 28 academic/assistant directors’ offices, an executive lounge and facilities for executive dining within an internal courtyard.
Much effort was made to retain the original building fabric and the architectural integrity of Riddel Hall. Period features such as fireplaces, wood panelling and radiators have been carefully restored. The use of old and new ‘respects the building and enhances its modern use’.
Two glazed walkways connect Riddel Hall to the new Teaching & Conference Wing. This facility provides teaching & IT facilities for postgraduate & executive users with its 2 computer labs, library, large group teaching room, postgraduate room & a Trading Room providing a simulated trading environment. The tiered lecture theatre for 180 delegates has state-of-the-art audio visuals & acoustics. This facility will provide a venue for conference & corporate events.
The third building in the facility is the new Queen’sUniversityManagementSchool. This building is home to postgraduate research rooms, 71 academic offices, school & student offices and a records room.
As part of the refurbishment of this hall Cush & McCourt Ltd had the pleasure of completing the entire joinery works on this cherished listed building as part of the Queen’s University, Belfast. The refurbishment consisted of a complete joinery fit out which consisted of new doors, door frames, door screens and all 2nd fix joinery works.
